Wght: Phillips fourth in snatch
Australian weightlifter AMANDA PHILLIPS has finished fourth in the snatch at the CommonwealthGames, the first time women's weightlifting has been held at the Games.
PHILLIPS managed a lift of 82.5 kilograms in the up to 69kg class, well behind goldmedallist MADELEINE YAMECHI from Cameroon, who lifted 100kgs.
But the Queensland University science student has put herself in position for a medalin the overall event if she performs well in the clean and jerk.
PHILLIPS represented Australia at the Olympic Games, where she came sixth.
