More Top Retailers Linked to Raided L.A. Sweatshops

LOS ANGELES Federated Department Stores Inc., J.C. Penney Co. andother top U.S. retailers sold garments made by illegal immigrants atthree Los Angeles sweatshops, the U.S. Department of Labor says.

Sixty-six immigrant workers, found last week in below-groundgarment factories, made clothes that ended up on the shelves of someof the nation's largest department stores, the federal agency said.It was the second sweatshop raid this month in the L.A. area.

The Labor Department's ongoing investigation found that WaltDisney Co., May Department Stores Co., Limited Inc. and Federated'sBloomingdale's and Macy's stores received shipments ofbrand-name-labeled garments …
