TEACHER HOPES TRANSPLANT PERSUADES OTHERS TO HELP.(MAIN)

Eighth-grade science teacher Jane Smith said Monday she felt good about donating a kidney to one of her students, Michael Carter, as soon as she saw him smile after surgery.

``He was so vibrant and full of life and excitement,'' Smith recalled when she saw Carter Saturday, a day after surgeons removed her left kidney and put it in his right side.
