NSW: Weapons review to examine samurai swords
The New South Wales government says samurai swords and machetes will be included in
a review of banned weapons.
Police Minister JOHN WATKINS has announced a full review of the state's prohibited weapons law.
He says it's vital that the legislation and the list of banned weapons reflect community
concerns and criminal trends.
Mr WATKINS says he has particular concerns about the possession of swords and he'll
instruct the review to examine increased regulation of them.
Under current laws it's illegal to carry swords, but it's not illegal to own, buy or sell them.
