NSW: Sydney s Sartor predicts great New Years Eve party

New Year's Eve organisers say greater colour and artistry will make Sydney's New Years
Eve fireworks as good as last year's and the Olympic celebrations.

Sydney Lord Mayor FRANK SARTOR says New Year's Eve 2000 will still raise eyebrows even
though the program is shorter than last year's.

Creative director IGNATIUS JONES says the fireworks will include new tricks saved from
the Olympic spectacular, such as giant exploding flying saucers.

Following last year's Eternity symbol on the Harbour Bridge, this year a special eight-pointed
star will mark the Centenary of Federation.

For a grand finale, 18 buildings either side of the bridge will be lit up by pyrotechnic
effects before the hallmark Niagra Falls-effect from the Bridge.
