Fed: Govt to review car industry tariffs
The federal government will review proposed tariff cuts for the automobile industry.
Treasurer PETER COSTELLO says he has directed the Productivity Commission to review
the automobile industry and its prospects beyond 2005.
After 2005 tariff protection for the industry is due to be cut.
Mr COSTELLO says the government promised during the election to review the automotive
industry, but he does not hold out any hope of stopping the planned tariff cuts.
